The procedure for establishing a sustainable development policy is:

1. Through a workshop with sustainability team an interactive exercise to establish the policy:

  • Is appropriate to the purpose of the organisation?

  • Provides a framework for setting sustainable development objectives?

  • Includes a commitment to satisfy applicable requirements?

  • Includes a commitment to continual improvement of the event sustainability management system?

  • Is available as documented information

  • Is communicated within the organisation?

  • Is made available to interested parties as appropriate?

  • Includes a commitment to leadership within the field of event sustainability management?

  • References its statement of purpose and values?

  • Includes a commitment to principles?

  • Represents the foundation for all event related activities, products and services

  • Considers requirements of supply chain organisations?

  • Considers requirements of each stage of the event management cycle (from conception, planning, implementation, review to post event)

  • Considers requirements related to the output from engagement with interested parties?

  • Considers requirements related to the needs of end users?

  • Considers requirements related to legacy issues?

2. This procedure will be implemented and reviewed annually during the sustainability team workshop.
